school-of-seven-bellsThis alternate take of “iamundernodisguise” by School of Seven Bells has a more blissful arrangement and a softer, yet glitchier rhythm compared to the dark drone of the original. Fans of Prefuse 73 and Broadcast, listen up:

Review: Phoenix @ The Electric Factory in Philly 9.28.09

p1

On first, or even fiftieth listen, Phoenix may not strike you as a band that could whip a sold-out crowd into a frenzy, but that’s exactly what they did last night in Philly. Simply put, they killed it. (Full review, photos and setlist after the jump)

Daniel Johnston’s Awesome iPhone Game: “Hi, How Are You”

Named after his 1983 album Hi, How Are You, the new iPhone game featuring the music and based on the surreal/child-like artwork of the whimsical troubadour Daniel Johnston may be the most unique app out there. It’s strange, beautiful and works extremely well from a gaming perspective. Love it! Watch the demo video:

Download the app now from iTunes for only .99¢, it’s well worth it!

MP3: Binki Shapiro and Friends – “Kids Song”

binki

Children’s writer/illustrator Dallas Clayton recently unearthed this Dr. Seuss-inspired track by Little Joy’s Binki Shapiro and friends (mems of Rilo Kiley…). Very charming:

Friday Fun: The SATANIC “Frasier” Theme Song + Norbert Milken Loves Billy Idol!

In this installment of “Friday Fun”, I shall present you with two videos that will astonish and titillate your entire being. the grand tradition of the Judas Priest controversy, this first video featuring the theme song from the hit comedy show Frasier being played backwards, proves once and for all that white people are devils (and that we LOVE Skittles):

Video: The Wayne Coyne and Bradford Cox Feud!

Indeed this is the second Flaming Lips related post in as many days, but this is just too CRAZY not to post. A while back Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips squabbled with Win Butler of Arcade Fire, now he continues his rock and roll tirade with Bradford Cox, or as Coyne calls him, “Benny Fox” of Deerhunter/Atlas Sound. Why so much hatred, Wayne? Do you realize…blah blah blah. Watch:

Ha!

New MP3: Circulatory System – “Round Again”

circWill Cullen Hart is a master of modern, psychedelic music. His current project, Circulatory System, delivers the same heavy dose of dense and pop that his previous band, Olivia Tremor Control, brought us.

“Round Again”, taken from the new album Signal Morning, is a post-Nuggets fuzz-jolt that heads straight for your mind’s eye.

New Video: The Flaming Lips – “I Can Be A Frog”

This little number, featuring Karen O. making animal noises, is from the band’s forthcoming album Embryonic and the newly accompanying video is too, too cute.

bloodfeathers

Blood Feathers have been making a name for themselves in Philly for some years now with their thoughtful Muswell Hillbillies-style of rock (sans the silliness). You’ll instantly feel at home with “Dont Know You At All”, the first single from their forthcoming album Goodness Gracious. Nod your head to this:

New Video: Broadcast & The Focus Group – “Witch Cults”

A new Broadcast release is always something to get excited about, and although it’s not their official new album (coming soon), this collaboration, a mini-album entitled Broadcast & The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age, sounds awesome. It’s Broadcast’s progressive electronic pop complimented by The Focus Group’s, aka artist Julian House, “library music, English folklore and the eerie feel of vintage programmes for schools and colleges”. Here’s a teaser video for the first track “Witch Cults”. Witchy!
