60’s Psychedelia in the 1980’s

The Soft Boys were, musically, one of the tightest bands of the late 70s/early 80s. Punk was beginning its transformation into what would eventually be considered new wave (post-punk) and these guys were leading the way. Their amazing, and most popular, album, 1980’s Underwater Moonlight is a highly entertaining ensemble of psych-pop nuggets. Inspired by 60’s era Pink Floyd, eccentric and uber-metaphorical front-man Robyn Hitchcock offers up songs about reptiles, transvestites, inanimate objects and perverts.
