Dan Deacon is a Future-Shock Freakazoid

Dan Deacon is an electronic composer/musical weirdo from Baltimore, Maryland. Often heralded as leading the newly coined genre of “Future-shock,” which is basically just a neat way of saying “ahead of it’s time,” he is undoubtedly one of the most unique artists in today’s indie music scene. His live shows are a frenzy of lights, neon skulls, and young kids spazzing out (usually on stage with Dan.) It’s noisy video-game electro-pop for people looking to contort their bodies in new ways.
Check out this ridiculous video of Dan on the local Baltimore NBC station:
And the ultra-trippy video for “Crystal Cat” from his most recent, and warped album Spiderman of the Rings
Also, head over to Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction for an EXCLUSIVE interview with Dan, as he discusses how he came up with the name Future-shock when he was drunk.
Buy Spiderman of the Rings from Psych-o-Path Records. Sooooo worth it!
