Do Ya Think Brazilian Jazz is Sexy: Jorge Ben’s "Taj Mahal"


I first became acquainted with 60’s and 70’s Brazilian Jazz and Psychedelic Samba through friends and David Byrne’s World Music label, Luaka Bop. Artists like Os Mutantes and Gil Gilberto fascinated me, and I subsequently began hunting for like-minded music. As I dove deeper into the genre with comps like Samba 70!, my bro-in-law suggested that I check out Jorge Ben. I quickly began digging Jorge’s accessible and playful music, not to mention his charismatic voice.
