Everybody's a Homosapien Nowadays
Many people know that The Buzzcocks were a highly influential punk band from the mid/late 1970s. Pivotal players in the Manchester scene, along with the Sex Pistols (and eventually Joy Division), the songs of Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto were fueled with raw bursts of energy, lyrical sarcasm and infectious hooks. Check out this leather-clad live performance of "Everybody's Happy Nowadays" from 1979 and see for yourself:
Ok. Now that you have that seared into your psyche. Here is something you may not be aware of. Just 2 short years after that live performance took place, lead singer Pete Shelley transformed himself into a poster-boy for the coming new-wave. Armed with keyboards, a Kraftwerkian haircut, sparkling white suit, futuristic bachelor pad (equipped with flaming windows), and awkward stares he presented the galaxy with this:
By the way, just in case you were frightened by the realistic fast moving clouds and fire, dont worry, those were all just special effects created by Pete Shelley's mind.
