Mahjongg were a bunch of dance-punk kids from Missouri with a fixation for polyrhythms and atonal vocals. In 2004 they released an EP on Chicago’s Cold Crush label with the day-glo gem of a single called “Jamdek.”
This is a tune that everyone from Gang of Four to Santogold would dig. Equal parts post-punk and new-wave, Im surprised this one hasn’t been remixed to death.
