Flowery Confessions to a Wardrobe: Donovan’s "I Love My Shirt"

Apparently, the truth emerges when one is under the influence of drugs.

I really hope this is true of 60s Pop Star/Flower Child, Donovan (Donovan Philips Leitch), in his psych-pop trip – I mean, single “I Love My Shirt” from Barabajagal (1969 Epic Records).

Rollicking repetitions of overtures to pieces of his wardrobe drip happily of stamp-lickin’ revelry. Cycles of “I love my shirt” progress to “I love my jeans” and wrap up with “I love my shoes”. It may have been an out-of-body, but certainly not an out-of-clothing experience. Thank goodness someone is unabashedly and gleefully transparent in their affections.

So lucky for you, friends – free love and free music walk hand in hand! Download Donovan’s “I Love My Shirt” and romp through endless fields of 100% cotton textile dreams!
