Friday Fun: Patrick Hernandez – “Born to Be Alive” (Video)

One thing is clear after watching this video, Patrick Hernandez doesn’t give a f*ck. Fortunate for him, however, most people did give a f*ck about this song when it was first released in 1979. Why? Because it’s an AMAZING snicklet of disco pop, that get’s you totally stoked on life!!!

“Born to Be Alive”  was a worldwide hit that year and earned the French-born singer a gold record from Italy. Since then it has been remixed, featured in video games and can also be heard in the dodgy 4th installment of the National Lampoon’s Vacation series Vegas Vacation. Hernandez may not have been born to have a long, successful music career but there is no doubt that he was BORN. BORN TO BE ALIIIVVEEE!

(Thanks to Atousa for turning me on to this and questioning whether or not he says “shitkeys on the old guitar” at 1:46. He is actually saying “A suitcase and an old guitar”, but I prefer Atousa’s version.)

BONUS: Check out the song’s original promo video. Yea, embedding is disabled on it. But guess what? I don’t care, cause it’s FINE FINE FINE!
