Highly Recommended: Celebration
It’s the sound of ancient civilizations caught in a hypnotic and romantic soundtrack. Celebration is a fusion band of sorts and their name connotes exactly the way their music feels, celebratory. It’s easy to see that this band from Baltimore, who made their debut in 2005, is in love with the music they play. Heavily inspired by Talking Heads, Fela Kuti and other pioneers of post-punk rhythm, the songs on their new album The Modern Tribe, are high-brow, repetitive mantras with earnest and spiritual lyrics.
