Highly Recommended: Peter Sarstedt, Pop Music For Sophisticates

Certain types of music can make us feel fancy, and other types of music can make us feel clean. I’ve found that most music that makes me feel this way is usually extraordinarily articulate. This is the case with 60’s pop songwriter Peter Sarstedt.
Like most of my peers, I was turned onto Sarstedt from hearing the heartbreaking, “Where Do You Go To (My Lovely?)” in Wes Anderson’s 2007 short-film, Hotel Chevalier (which is the prelude to his latest masterpiece, The Darjeeling Limited). Sardstedt sings confidently with British eloquence, accompanied by an perfectly tasteful instrumentation; specifically conveying the mood of each one of his songs.
