King At The Controls: Dub-Master, King Tubby

After getting into the roots of Reggae and Ska, I have discovered the most experimental of Jamaican generes: Dub.

I’ve been a fan of one of the genre’s greats. King Tubby, for sometime now and he never disappoints.

In the late 60’s and early 70’s, Tubby, along with Lee “Scratch,” Perry helped to create the modern Dub sound. Stripping down traditional Reggae to its instrumental core, while “dubbing” eccentric sound effects into the mix is the name of the game, and Tubby is the scorekeeper.

Buy King Tubby’s music from the premiere Reggae label, Trojan Records, then just roll it and relax.
