Nick Cave May Have Written The Most Beautiful Love Song You Have Heard In A While

I recently pulled Nick Cave and the Bad Seed’s, The Boatman’s Call out of my collection because I hadn’t listened to it in a while. Jesus, what an album. The record opens with “Into My Arms,” one of the most beautiful love songs I have ever heard. From the opening chords, I am in the palm of this song’s hand. Cave’s voice is reminiscent of a burning wood stove- it’s slightly smoky and safely warm. He’s singing of that elusive guarantee of spiritual protection for the one he loves. Though he may not believe in an interventionist God, he believes in love.
I know I’m a total romantic sap, but damn, this is a powerful song. The whole album is gorgeous in a mellow, meditative, melancholic manner. Alliteration, yeah! All jokes aside, cater to your inner romantic and buy this record.
