Rita Mitsouko Proves The 80's Were Weirder Than You Thought

French synth-pop/punk band Rita Mitsouko was founded by guitarist Fred Chichin and singer Catherine Ringer in 1980 (and is still going, despite Fred's recent death). Their biggest and strangest claim to fame was their 1985 "hit" single "Marcia Baïla" and it's lucid, surreal video....which is fucking amazing. It yelps "cooky" and lies somewhere in between the dinner scene in Beetlejuice and The Pez People music video from The Big Picture. Plus Catherine's coned boobs totally pre-date Madonna's.

The band's debut album is recommended and can be purchased on Amazon.
