Summertime Listening: New Music From The Weepies
Not only are The Weepies super talented, but this charming husband/wife indie-pop duo from Cali know the way to my heart. Lyrics like “I assure you friend, everyday is ice cream and chocolate cake” put an instant smile on my face.
Both “All This Beauty” and “Hideaway,” from their newest album Hideaway, are a mixture of everything adorable and everything summer. The former is an airy 60’s styled pop tune, reminiscent of Herman’s Hermits, Free Design and the lighter bands from Elephant 6, and the latter is a James Taylor meets Kimya Dawson folked-out toe-tapper. Both songs definitely deserve a place on your newest summer mix.
