NYC duo The Golden Filter will be bringing their Moroder-infused disco beats and lush vocals to Kung Fu Necktie this Saturday night and I do recommend that you catch them. Their performance at this year’s SXSW Urban Back lot party was one of the highlights for me at the fest. Dig an mp3 below:
The Music Slut is giving away two tickets to The Golden Filter’s June 19th Philly show and after catching their set at SXSW, I highly suggest you enter. GF is a Brooklyn duo who create a Moroder-infused electronic sound that is cosmic, sexy and gritty and the live show is full of poly-rhythmic glee. So don’t hesitate…
My trip to this year’s SXSW for Art in the Age was certainly a productive one. Between seeing live shows, eating BBQ, and getting to know the city, I managed to catch up with some really awesome bands and interview them for the AITA blog. Having our artist tees and ROOT Liquor with me didn’t hurt of course.
Above you can watch our interview, which turned out to be one of our best, with the highly entertaing G. Lucas Crane — noisemaker for the band Woods.
Watch interviews with The Golden Filter, Warpaint, Bachelorette, First Aid Kit, Talk Normal, Suckers and Real Estate after the jump…
When I saw this song by unsigned New Yorkers The Golden Filter posted on Disco Dust, I was immediately reminded of the 80’s show Solid Gold, which featured the Solid Gold dancers sporting golden garbs and performing their overly dramatic and silly dance moves to the era’s biggest hits. Thankfully, this “Solid Gold†plays it much cooler, with rad Moroder style production and sexy calculator synths that would give Kraftwerk a boner.
Stream another song from The Golden Filter on their MySpace page.
