The Mysterious and Minimalistic Sounds of the Invisible Conga People

An electronic stream of consciousness. A ceremonial meditation. A haunting premonition. These are all phrases and descriptions that come to my mind when listening to “Cable Dazed” by NYC’s Invisible Conga People, the newest band on the otherwise dark disco label Italians Do It Better. Similar to the Knife’s song “Silent Shout,” it’s a tranced-out, mystical piece with dead-pan vocals and a backing track that rarely deviates off course. The difference lies in “Cable Dazed’s” more stripped down approach, which to me, adds a greater air of mystery.
